Baby Rose Marie
Baby Rose Marie (1923-N/A)
Photographed By Orval Hixon 1930
Baby Rose Marie was on the Vaudeville stage at 3 years old singing and dancing with her husky trademark voice. Her real name was Rose Marie Mazzetta and she was born on the day the Broadway musical Rose Marie opened. She dropped “Baby” from her name when she turned 15. Because of the child labor laws, her father was arrested 127 times for letting her appear on stage.
Her other career started in the 40’s. She toured for over eight years with Rosemary Clooney, Helen O’Conner and Margaret Whiting in the musical revue called 4 Girls 4.
She is best remembered for her role as Sally Rogers on the Dick Van Dyke show. She received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2001. She was the last theatrical subject photographed by Orval Hixon in KC and the only one still alive today.
